De Nobili Matric School

Robert De Nobili was born in Rome in 1577. He came to India from Italy and started his mission in Madurai around 1600. Being well versed in Tamil and Sanskrit languages, he rendered incredible service to Tamil literature. He wrote a number of books in Tamil which placed him among the prose writers in Tamil. He led a simple and saintly life of a Hindu sanyasi. He was the pathfinder in establishing Madurai mission. He breathed his last in the year 1656 at Mylapore, Chennai.

To felicitate and honour the zealous service of Robert De Nobili, De Nobili Matriculation Hr. Sec. School is named after him. It was founded in the year 1992 by the R.C. Archdiocese of Madurai. Our school is situated in the Arch-bishop’s house Campus, K. Pudur (near Govt. I.T.I.) Madurai. With harmonious environment and excellent academic records our school is marching towards the 34th successful years of service. Nobili school conducts classes from Pre., K.G. to XII std for both boys and girls. Ever since 1992 our school has been in the service of educating the young minds of both from rural & urban areas.
